My Afrikanness

My afrikanness,
Evident through my melanin, my accent and my structure,
My afrikanness,
Gives what’s mine and takes what’s not,
My afrikanness,
Cries for the poor and does not cheer for materiality,
My afrikanness,
Asks questions I don’t want answered,
My afrikanness,
Wants to lose the surname of my master, and wants to be identified solely by my tribe,
True family is defined by the village you are from and not your blood,
My afrikanness,
Unembodied spirit thrives around my body, and wants to talk to my ancestors
My afrikanness,
Will never adapt to the technology that’s is gradually destroying our pure minds
My afrikanness,
Shall rise when my day comes,
My voice will shoshoma as I will be yelling for the injustice and the unheard
My afrikanness,
Strives for education based on your natural born skills and not education based one’s ability to memorize and take tests,
My afrikanness,
Will never heal from the colonial traumas,
My afrikanness,
Strives for the day when Africans uses witchcraft to do good and influence people to be on the side for the greater good.
My afrikanness,
Can’t commit even though I am committed:-(
My afrikanness,
Questions why we sold our own and left them wondering for a day that never came– where we should have rescued our people  with spears from long wooden sheath, and bows, arrows and shields from extinct animals.
400 years later-My afrikanness questions why I came here to join them?
