Wake up MAMA AFRICA

I wrote this poem from personal experiences living in my beloved african continent.

Wake up
Wake up
Wake up MAMA AFRICA
You have slept enough
It’s time for you now to wake up
Don’t you hear the sound of a thousand orphans
Crying for education and opportunity
Gun shots have replaced church bells
They have destroyed you in your sleep
Dead bodies have turned into bed pillows for your children
WAKE UP MAMA!!!
Before you are finished
Can you tell me one thing?
Why are you still sleeping at this time?
The Time of chaos
Time of hunger
Time of untreatable diseases
Which are spreading like fresh butter on a hot toast
Stop being selfish and think about your children
You are rich, yet you are full of hunger
You are the light of man, yet they call you the dark continent
You are powerful, yet they control you
You are a paradise, yet they have turned you into a battlefield
So please wake up
And  stop
The  inflammatory politicians
The hunger
And The lies
that have defined you for decades
Mother of all creatures
My Sweet mama Africa
I know your true beauty
Your kindness
Your patience
And even your pain
So please wake up mama
And show the world
What I already know
That you are a giant with glowing beauty
