Silently, the foundations were shaken
No one saw them break away
Once so bright, the fading light
Became trapped, forever at bay
“We’ve been left alone, how could it be?
Our idol has fallen, long and gone.”
Confused crowds were crying aloud;
What was it that they had done wrong?
They’d come out for a sense of guidance
But what they never seemed to get;
The healing art of a troubled heart
Is a wound not easily set.
They’d get along, eventually;
But his ghost would always remain.
Lurking behind the dark of their minds,
A blight; unfettered stain.
