Bystander to such grand events
That speak omens' inheritance
Do the Lords and Ladies stray from war;
Sleep, the Kingdom, evermore.

At which seed grows the savage garden
Whose chorus comes aloft at castle door
Resound off walls, long since forgotten;
Sleep, the Kingdom, evermore.

Spoken words in minuets
Sound the beating of fierce chariots
And in that moment, do declare
The sovereign stretch come, born of fear.
On tapestries left collecting dust,
Unknowing of the rest of us.
For the darkened light we do abhor;
Sleep, the Kingdom, evermore.
