Lost Love

This girl I once knew,
It doesn’t seem so long.
Into my life she came like sun,
Life was a happy song.

Every day was summer,
Showers passed always,
We laughed and played as lovers do,
Those were Halcyon Days.

Lost in love and lust for life,
Was in a Maserati
No such thing as corners,
I was Illuminati.

But a man is all I was.
Prone to man’s mistakes.
Head is up, foot is down,
We forget to use the brakes.

The crash it came, as was bound.
Left me with only dust.
I did the only thing to do,
Brushed off as one must.

Regrets I have though they are few,
But not too few to mention.
Anyone who thinks that way,
Has no love retention.

Life consists of not just good,
Pleasure’s cost is pain,
That girl who brought us much of both,
Her like we seek again.
