Sails Unfurled

Sometimes there are no answers
To a stab from behind
All we can do is face it out
Or lose ourselves, be blind

Blind is often what we need
To not see is our aim
If we did our heart would bleed
We couldn't play life's game

There I was in shadows
Where I was not caring
Bumbling here and there
Hazily, not daring

A girl she said 'hi baby,
You look lost to me,
Why don't we, have drink
And then we will see'

I told the girl that lost I was
But liked it being that way
She looked at me like I was wise
No words did she need say

I bought us one drink, two & more
Soon we were both smashed
I woke up the next morning
She's gone, my wallet's mashed

But my recall it was fond
She took me to some place
That I had forgotten
Put a smile back on my face

I guess one day a wrong turn
Will lead me down some path
I’ll make a simple error
And feel some Earthly wrath

Until that day it does arrive
My ship will roam the world
One way to do it only
With all sails unfurled
