Fathomless

"Time wasted at the beach is time well spent."
Author Unknown

Thin line west to east
Light cerulean sky above
Blue ocean under

Mystically bright
Sunlight in the sky refracts
To robin’s egg blue

White clouds race across
Swiftly with the morning breeze
Above the skyline

Vast trackless ocean
Calm gentle tranquility
Subtleties of blue

Mischievous sparkles
Sun’s borrowed light glimmering
On timid wavelets

Featureless it seems
Yet touch of the infinite
Fathomless myst’ry

Immense, unending
Utterly magnificent
Visibly divine

On beach lounging chairs we sat
Awestruck by the perfect shot
The picture postcard we see
Testament to God’s glory
In our hearts fervid yearning
One lazy Sunday morning

I wrote this poem last summer, texting the verses to myself as my wife and I sat on lounge chairs on a deserted beach in St Croix looking at the distant skyline,
