The Sun Woke Me Up
I had a nightmare last night
A terrifying blow to my delight
It gave me more than a fright
But I opened my eyes to a wondrous sight
And I woke up with the sun in my eye
My mind began to flutter as my heart began to fly
I felt the day coming so fast
So I grabbed on and brought my life out of the past
I languished in the dungeon of my head
Stuck with my memories chained to my bed
All the times my joy went unfed
All those stupid things I said
But I woke up with the sun in my eye
I learned that it’s ok to cry
I felt the smile spread over my lips
As I listened to the curtain of sadness rip
Evermore will the sun grace my eyes
It’ll never fade, no matter who tries
Even if it were to snow, storm, or rain
I’ll never cry, in sadness, again
