"THE MASK"

"In life there are choices that are made to make others feel at their best,
even when happiness and love is absent from the wearer;their will still be someone in the world that is willing to wear that mask."
-Christian Powers

Am I your conscience?...
Whom I might think I’m not,
Locked up inside... This empty mind
I have created this box
Pain emerged from love
I opened my heart to rejoice,
Then violence added flavor
To the sadness that I enjoy
I float upon my open dreams
For it seems that they are bleak
I cry over a thousand times
Still wishing to get some sleep
The strands of hands
Are slit to vile, thieving thoughts are caught,
The lies spin on a broken nail
Choking on words that are forgot
I fly upon an empty ride
A withering battle of choice,
Will I conquer every fear I have
Or fail to feel theirs no point
Will I ever open my eyes again
To read or live a life?
Will I bend and break and cry and ache
to become who I am inside?
Will i shrivel and belittle
the hate and grudge... Whom shall I ask,
I look to the sky screaming “why”
“Why Do I wear this mask”...
