Face Behind the Door
Face behind the door I do greet you, but this door will remain closed.
Listen to the words I say, my child you are not alone.
Face behind the door I do see you, see into your path ahead,
However this is not a troubled path that I have personally lead.
Face behind the door I do know you, you’ve got an eye for a girl’s hand.
Although dear one, her heart has now been taken by another man.
Face behind the door I do hear you, your voice brings back a time.
Your father rode to battle while your mother stayed behind.
Face behind the door your mother, she has been there for you all this time.
To care for you, to nourish you, to bring you piece at mind.
Face behind the door I won’t answer. You know you should go back.
With selfishness and greed you ran away from her, there’s no path it’s courage you lack.
Face behind the door she’ll forgive you. She will be happy that you’re fine.
But know this now, my child there’s more to life than being unkind.
Face behind the door go quickly, home is where you belong.
It’s a place to feel safe, to feel loved and don’t worry, your courage will help you stay strong.
