Traveler

A poem dedicated to the passing of a loved one...

Oh river, why do you weigh me down so?
My feet they are bare but I still have to go.
This woman in the water, she walks on at ease,
This traveler I seek to find what she sees.

Let her sing in the west,
Let her dance in the east,
Little stranger little stranger I seek what you see.
I’ve known how to walk, but your steps I can’t take,
Let me be in your guidance, so I can awake.

Oh shadow, do you follow her when the sun rises high?
With sequins on her shawl do they glisten as the starry sky?
With the sun that is shining, ever so bright, and the moon
Let her see, what she’s finding at night?

Let her sing in the west,
Let her dance in the east,
Little stranger little stranger I seek what you see.
I’ve known how to walk, but your steps I can’t take,
Let me be in your guidance, so I can awake.

For now and forever, a path I’ll now take,
The life of a stranger, I shall not awake.
She leads me on forwards to the beaming white light,
The hand I now grasp as we start to take flight.

Let her sing in the west,
Let her dance in the east,
Little stranger little stranger I seek what you see.
I’ve known how to walk, but your steps I can’t take,
Let me be in your guidance, so I can awake.
