Onto a journey, for “hope”.

“Hope”, A word almost alien to my soul,
A word I’ve stopped believing since long.

But it’s been stuck in my mind like a sour thorn,
for I can’t stop pondering what’s “hope.”

And everyone keeps telling me to have a bit of “hope”,
funny how I’ve never been told, what exactly is “hope.”

So I’ve decided to wander through my town alone,
and to look for the thing called “hope”.

And on I go, on a journey to find the lost gold,
something everyone keeps saying it’s “hope”.

And the first thing which I came across,
the “cremation ground” which had a weird glow,
the pyre burning in the background kept it aglow,
and the burning would made a crakling sound,
which filled the air with grief all-around.
A grim place to find “hope”,
I know, same thing I too thought.

But bewildered my soul,
for people there had eyes filled with tears or hope.
How the people “hoped”, for the departed soul,
to find some peace in the place unknown.

With this revelation I moved along,
towards the next place,
to find the meaning for “hope”.

And then the “cafe” where I often go,
the next stop on my way to find some “hope”.
And if the cafe isn’t a place full of hope,
for after a tiring day, all alone,
this “cafe” gave me the will to walk along.

And onwards then I go, to find my next stop,
It was an “old age home,”
I was sure here I won’t find any hope.

I thought I won’t find here any hope,
for the “old” have lived so long,
they surely know, it’s a grim place this world we call our home.

And how they proved me so wrong,
for everyone I looked at had a smile and some hope,
Hope, to live their last few years full of happiness throughout their soul.

Now I think I know, what is “hope”,
they all call, it’s not a prophecy which comes true at all,
Rather it’s something that makes us go along,
through the tough time when on the road.
Now I think it’s okay for me to have hope,
for it’s not a prophecy at all,
it’s only there to soothe our soul, the thing we call “hope.”
