Smile

A face like a porcelain doll.
But it doesn’t smile
So serious all the time
I sometimes imagine her
Showing me her teeth
That white picket fence of dreams.
I wonder if I can tease it out of her.
Get her to laugh.
To erase the poker face.
For just a minute.
Sixty seconds to infinity.
A lifetime in a stolen moment.
In the end.
That’s all we have.
A small collection of these.
Beads to eternity.
