Old Mary Beth and the Television Set
Old Mary-Beth wanted a new television set.
Not because of what most people might think,
she was just tired of seeing the world sink.
Old Mary-Beth used to enjoy her old television set,
not because of the classy look,
but when the world used to enjoy the typical book.
She loved watching the world on the screen that sat in the center of her living room,
where shows like Mr. Bean would satisfy her laughter like a little kid watching Looney Toons.
But now, all she wants is to not see the many images of war, nor see the negativity of so many issues that make her heart sore.
The outcome for Old Mary-Beth is she did get a new television set.
It had many features that a young kid would know,
But old Mary-Beth only cared for the television shows.
In reality, her eldest son had the caretakers program the channels,
hiding the images of despair and cruelty in the world.
Reality was given to Mary-Beth through her television set,
but the wars and disturbing images remained absent,
even though the world as we know it lies outside,
which is no different then a game of roulette.

Some people believe life evolves through the television set. Reality is outside their doorstep, but sometimes the TV is their own reality of life.
