Changing Focus

As the sun set
the wind did blow
its gusting presence disturbed my soul.
And as the trees bent
it took its tole
on hillside
canyons
and the valley below.

The sounds of howls
the occasional gust
rattled the house
that I hoped I could trust.
Storm shutters in place
a definite must
on a house this old
during any good thrust.

Then came morning
and the wind died down
and up on the rooftop
rain was the sound
Raindrops on Tin
was much better I found
Than that blasted wind
blowing around.

As the sun rose
over haphazard terrain
the view became clear
on a large window pane.
With the shutter removed
I could see the stain
Of wind driven dirt
untouched by the rain.
