Slip on the mask
                   Can’t let them see you cry
                     Smile through the pain
            Tolerate living for one more day
                             A mask of lies
                             Hide the fear
                            Hide the pain
                           Hide the tears
                         Can’t let it crack
                         Hide, hide away
                Behind the gate-less walls
                       Around your heart
        No army can lay siege to these walls
Can’t let anyone see the darkness inside of you
                             You’re safe
                          Hidden away
               Where no one can hurt you
No one except that cruel, cruel being known as
                             Yourself
           Fighting a million chess matches
                     Against Yourself
                       Every single day
               Behind a mask of happiness
                       How ironic life is
               When the sad are the ones
             Who appear to be happiest.
