Where to find beauty

When I was younger I knew

I knew there was a budding beauty inside of me
I knew my heart was sweeter than flowers
My personality equally as alluring
An allure I could never seem to give my aesthetic

I could feel the word beautiful slip from my grasp
As eyelashes thinned and my innocence turned to dust
While I was force fed pretty like medicine
While I used makeup like medicine..

Confidence bloomed under cosmetic rot
Dreams of perfection turned to poisonous thought
Water strips me clean of aesthetic pleasures
But I guess I always knew

I knew the most beautiful thing about me could only ever be my mind
