Wondering Heart

Sometimes the heart is a fragile thing,
It can shatter in a matter of seconds.
It can change its mind about how it feels,
Its feelings are not guaranteed.

Sometimes the heart can turn cold,
It can turn against others in a matter of seconds.
It can change its passion for love,
Its feelings are not guaranteed.

Her heart lays on the bottom of the ocean,
Drowning in its own sorrows.
It tries to climb to the top of mountain peaks,
Just to see a change in perspective.

His heart runs the fierce hiking trails,
Almost hitting every branch on the way.
It tries to swim across the ocean,
Just to be in a different place.

The heart doesn’t care where it breaks,
Doesn’t care when it breaks.
She thought it was unfair to feel the cracks form,
Because she didn’t think it was the right time.

The heart doesn’t care when it’s going to change its mind,
Doesn’t care when it stops.
He thought it was unfair to wake up one day,
With a transformation of emotions.

A beating heart won’t promise anything,
It won’t always be the same.
She didn’t want to accept the change,
But he welcomed it with open arms.

Two different hearts
That were once together.
Now far apart,
Just like the distance forced upon them.
