Time Keeps Ticking
By sunrise I have already awakened,
As the calm overcomes my soul I prepare to do what’s expected.
Still I lay with my eyes closed,
Wondering deep in my mind will today be different.
Time keeps ticking,
Yesterday I lost my closes friend an I don’t keep to many so that chapter ends.
Time keeps ticking,
If I was to tell you my story would you judge or just listen.
Would my sins run deeper than yours because you did not commit them,
Is one sin greater than the next for I have been accuser and victim.
Still I lay silent birds chirping.
Time keeps ticking,
Though my mind gets lost in the distance what I stand for my existence,
I ask my greater energy my god should my struggle be persistent.
When does the light shine on me,
Time keeps ticking.
