Fear & Loss

I know what it is to touch the fear of loss,
Everyday gnawing inside you at cost.
Breaking you down right to the ground,
The one you loved no longer around.

As each day passes, from that event,
You hope that time will help to prevent
the sorrow that’s felt at this lament,
But the loss is strong, and brings torment.

The fear inside does not subside,
Where now to go that is not denied.
It takes your pride on course to collide,
This terrible ride, your thoughts are fried.

This loss so strong, for one so loved,
How can this bridge be crossed?
What must be done to overcome
these days that shroud, like a rain cloud?

You try your best to remember well,
Resolve in you that last farewell.
See the good, take off the hood,
Do not stay to be misunderstood.

Accept that others outside the ring,
Will not be sure about this thing.
For they have not this place yet reached,
For if they do, your help they’ll preach.

(2005)

Note: Fright and Fear are emotions that course through your veins when you hear the worst possible news, that your son is dead. You are broken down completely and grief grips your very soul. It is a truly dreadful place to be in, that others, unless they too have been bereaved, can never fully understand…This is for all those who know that place
