Survival

What difference can I make
In the end?
Greatness, honour, fame;
I hold no claim to these;
I hold no Illusions.
When Judgement comes, I
Know not if I will be saved.

I merely live; nay, survive
On this water ridden rock.

What difference can I make
In the end?
No great task has befallen me,
No great weight upon these shoulders.
I work, and live, to prevent the
Rapid reproduction of chick and calf;
And gradually destroy the beauty in this world.

So f**k ambition!
F**k ‘the plan’!
Live not for misplaced purpose
But live for love.

After all,

We merely live; nay, survive
On this water ridden rock.

The cursing in this poem is of stylistic choice, not vulgarity. Originally it is not censored with asterisks, but out of consideration for others, who may despise such language, I have censored it slightly.
