Fading Shimmers
The life of plant and animal
running parallel to each other
early greenery and infant frolicking
lilacs smiling at the rising sun
climbing out of their succulent
greenish yellow homes
cubs at play with their patient mothers
and early life a never-ending gala
tender youth in all the tender years
the pulse of nature evermore vibrant
shimmering faces and dancing eyes
spirits effervescent and running free
late summer and midlife
running side by side
the fading still around the corner
the horns of autumn tuning up
for a prelude to the fall
the falling of the emeralds on the trees
the shivering the pain the angst
the anguish ahead to winter’s pang
the life of the cubs and children
slowing down
shimmers fading in mid years
fun giving into
selflessness future planning
responsibility parental worry
labor attitude
when the health begins to fade
when the plants lose their luster
when the colors no longer shimmer
when the animals slow down
when summer runs into autumn
when the music stops playing
when the eyes end their dancing
when the frolicking loses its desire
and when the shimmering fades
as the cycle of life forever runs
