Here It Is

To Gracie; wherever she may go.

I’m gonna write a poem okay?
One that’s filled with darkness and grey
A light that has been shed on a life today
A light that will never be blown out
Or taken away
I come to think of the times when I stop
Take a look around me and take a look at the clock
Time isn’t frozen it’s only moving on
So here we go with this poem
This song
There once was a girl who starved everyday
There once was a boy who wished to make that go away
They both fed on the feelings
The desires they shared
But nothing was filling their tummies
Not that anyone cared
They held onto each other
That’s what they did
They fed from their hearts and their bodies they hid
Their bodies were weak, hungry and scared
But their hearts burned true and these two know who they are
So what if they pass up one meal
Two, three or four
All they wanted was each other
Nothing less, nothing more
One day the boy realized he should give the girl some help
Because he didn’t want the girl feeling the way that he felt
He tried his best to give her his aid
Sometimes she’d listen and other times she’d just push him away
But he kept trying, because he wanted her to live
He wanted her to be free of all the worries she couldn’t help but give
And they are still struggling
Still fighting to this day
To keep each other happy
There is no other way
No other way but through love that’s true
Love that lifts up, both me and you
We live in a world that can’t see past imperfections
Lies are living on in lands of devastation
But the boy will keep trying
That’s what he’ll do
Because that boy is me
And that girl is you
