The running man

There is a man in my head, he’s running through my mind.
He is running on a treadmill and leaving me behind.

He’s running faster and  faster, throwing his thoughts all around,
I wonder who’s in charge here and if he makes a sound.

He is in a dark room, with a spotlight on his speed,
He is panting and exhausted, I wonder about his needs.

He’s sweating and he’s stressed, he can’t run anymore,
He stops and falls, he’s tired, confused and unsure.

I wonder who this man is, is he me in disguise?
Am I running out of steam, will I fall and hide?
