Bittersweet

An ode, a lament, a poem.

I love these times.
When you get a chance to just sit back with someone you love .
Basking in the sun, laying down on the verdant grass.
Staring out.
The azure sky.
Such vibrance.
Children run past, laughing and playing.
Such innocent times.
Now the world seems so bittersweet;
All these awful people.
War, death, poverty.
And yet, if you focus on the darkness all the time, you never get a chance to see such beautiful colours.
When you focus only on the desaturated greys and browns, you never look at the mesmerizing spectrum of colours, just outside.
Even now, I sit at a screen, locked away in a room, typing away.
Hoping to get some recognition.
But everyone needs a break.
I think tomorrow I’ll go out.
Back to that place, maybe with someone I love.
Maybe I can bask, rest on the verdant grass.
Admire our azure sky.
And breathe in the fresh air.
And see our beautiful, bittersweet world.

I wanted to write something a bit more upbeat, though this did turn out.... well, a bit bittersweet. I love it nonetheless.
