Surprise!
In the beginning
God said
Let there be light
A week later
In the Garden of Eden
This was misunderstood to mean
Let there be no doubt
Fast forward
And the Enlightenment
Such as it is
Removed all doubt
And turned off the light
Any day now
Knowledge and wonder–
Who patched things up
When no one was looking (perhaps distracted by a screen)–
Will throw on the lights
For a surprise party
