Truck Stop

She works in a silent truck stop,

On a dark road outside of town.

She works the late shift;

She watches the truckers pull in and out.

She laughs, listens and does her job,

Then she goes home at seven;

She comes back at midnight.

She does this to provide a future,

A future for her family.

One lingering thought remains inside her head,

The loved ones at home,

Her sons asleep in their beds,

Her friend, companion and life’s love asleep in their bed.

They are what carry her through,

The morning rolls on;

The truckers pull in and out.

She goes home at seven,

To the ones she loves and never doubts.

She does it out of love for her family.

All who come in will never know,

Never know how much love she has for the three waiting for her at home.

She works in a silent truck stop.
