Robber

Oh let there be no sound,
Music or conversation,
Sweet silence is profound
And is a rare occasion
While we mourn together
For a loved one taken.
Robbed of another
Our world is broken.
Death you are a robber
So merciless and greedy still,
Nothing can defeat your ardour
Except we all live longer
In our bodies and our will,
In defiance of the fear that you instil.
