Casals Playing Bach
Oh, that I should reach
Such depths in words as Pablo Casals does
In the musical notes of Bach’s cello suites,
Digging up human emotions,
Layer after layer,
Such a player,
Of wordless sounds,
Upending my thoughts and feelings,
Such treats,
Flinging me out of myself
In the amazement of their skill
And love of music
That knows no bounds,
Such a thrill!
Listening to Casals playing Bach
I embark
To another world another place
Of wonder and disbelief interlaced,
Elevated to the above and below
Of my being, shaken, rolled, thrown
By the cello and bow
Into antique and unique waves of emotion
Previously unknown,
Skipping, dancing, plunging, swimming
Into such depths of mind
Turned upside down and rolling
Where I find
I have leaped into another dimension.
