The moment your heart skips a beat is the moment you fall in love, but it isn’t painful.
And yet, we always manage to get mangled by sharp thorns during it all;
like a fall right next to a jagged edged cliff,
hitting the sides of it that jut as the ground rises up towards the sky to welcome you into the arms of it’s vast surface.
And yet, the burning flames which the heart can cause leaves you wondering 'why’;
leaves you smoldering in the ashes of a cacophony of thoughts as to what went wrong;
leaves you scorching from the inside out,
pondering how it all ended this way...
By the time everything’s all said and done, you look like you’ve been at war for months;
like you’ve just crawled off the battle field with nothing left...
...nothing left except for the numb, sinking feeling weighing your heart and soul down to the deepest and darkest of depths.
But to pose a question, “what is love without a scar to remember the battle?”
For once the dawn and the dusk settle upon the horizon,
the day shall bring forth with it a new glow as if heaven is calling our names by the angels we have fallen for;
their voices pleading for us to begin anew.
“You must remember the way love gives oxygen to you, but leaves you breathless,”
I hear the angel whisper into my neck.
Voice soft and sweet,
as if laced with gold and embroidered with silver;
the words echo as the seconds bloom
deeper... into a treasurable moment.
