For Wayne and Georgia Pfaffly

HOME
Born in the 40’s, sometimes the road was rough
Dad worked the fields, but that was not enough
So Mom planted the garden, she canned what she could
Don’t think these were bad times, because these times were good
We learned to plant potatoes, by cutting out the eyes
Then we put them in the cellar, and now I realize
It took a family working together, to make it through the year
I thought those were hard times, but now I hold them dear
We could not have made it without those chickens and their eggs
When it came to Sunday dinner, I wish they had four legs
Building fence and cutting wood was never ever fun
But I remember feeling good when the work was finally done
As a teen I longed to leave that old farm behind
Living in the city was what I had in mind
Now I have grown older, many places I have roamed
None of them compare with the place that I call home
