THINGS THAT RUIN MY DAY

My Sister's Poems

THINGS THAT RUIN MY DAY

I woke up this morning and smelled the morning dew
I looked up toward the heavens and saw the sky was blue
I walked through the garden where flowers were a growin’
Then I opened up my mail and read my sister’s poem

Then I joined the Navy, to sail the seven seas
To discover foreign lands and smell the ocean breeze
I saw the wonders of the world in places I was goin’
And then a letter came, my sister sent a poem

I traveled to Arabia, it was a living hell
I even spent a weekend inside an Arab jail
I wondered why I’d left the states and why I had to roam
I guess I could not stand another sister poem

Now I am old and I retired to finally get some rest
I returned to my hometown that I had loved the best
I went into the local bank and asked them for a loan
They said they were sorry but they’d read my sister’s poem

My health went bad I needed help to bathe and even dress
My blood pressure was too high I’m suffering from stress
I finally checked myself into a local nursing home
From the room next to me, I heard my sister’s poem

My time on earth was over my fate had finally come
To have that final reading of things that I had done
I passed into that bright white light; I had been called home
Then a man in Red set next to me and read my sister’s poem.
