Harshness of winter
put away winter woollies, scarf and hat
you don’t need your wellies we are done with all that
the harshness of winter slowly slipping away
small signs of spring appearing each day
icy frost that enveloped all of the trees
makes way for new buds for bright green leaves
bird song fills the air, singing a joyful chorus
cold winds are replaced by sun that gently warms us
planting in rows, bulbs for a summer display
the garden wakens up a little day by day
pastel colours replace dull winter brown
as spring plants push up from under the ground
warm glow on the cheeks of children at play
wishing forever that the sun could stay
spring is a time for new life to appear
so grab hold of life, hold loved ones near
