Redskins

Redskins, Redskins, what a beautiful name
Wishing I could call my skin the same
To be given a name to call me brave
A proud banner to battle I would wave

Native Americans, your courage I remember
From books my early partiality I surrender
Of how you lived and communed with nature
Wisdom divided into terrestrial nomenclature

To have a football team named after you
An honor bestowed to only a few
Those who know how it is to be courageous
Those who live a life among spirited sages
Please don’t ever change your name
Washington Redskins, just play the game
Isn’t football all about pride and courage?

I'll be thinking about you when my Giants play your Redskins the next game.

Fave. Love.

Thanks Robert. My team, my family’s team. The Redskins! Nothing like a hometown sports team. Brought the Redskins with me here in California where I retired. Fingers always crossed for a Redskins resurrection to glory days under George Allen and Joe Gibbs.
