A Curse Word
There’s a curse word written in cursive
Scratched out in somebody’s notebook
On the outside that word looks so beautiful
Before the reader has time to do his reading
For that split second
It’s just a beautiful scratch against paper
But when the reader reads
For momentarily that’s his only task
He reads and understands
The dark essence behind the beautiful word,
And it’s not so beautiful anymore.
But he was fooled for a moment
Because cursive has a strange way
Of making even the ugliest of words
Appear so beautiful.
