Some More Things I Learned About Love
"Wish you Were Here"
I loved, I broke, I loved, I got broken
And I thought there had to be something wrong with me
I thought I wouldn’t trust, wouldn’t come back, but
I learned that it takes the right person
With a patient care and a kind heart
Who wanted to see me fly again
Who wanted to show me that I am worth more—
More than selfish intentions
More than know-it-all attitudes
More than convenient love.
I learned that I’d been liked, even loved,
But never really respected. Not heard, or valued,
Treated like an asset—not a partner.
I learned how lovely it is to love somebody
Who isn’t afraid to tell you what you mean to them,
Or love you the way you deserve to be loved.
I learned a fairytale love doesn’t mean much
That superficial looks can’t make the important things better.
I learned that sometimes timing really is important
That you can’t create something good if the timing is not.
I learned it’s such a blessing to be with your best friend
And laugh and play and love unconditionally.
I learned that even stepped on I could still grow strong and beautiful
And I could come back from anything.
