Just Memories

Remember what you told me
Remember where we were
When you said we’d never part.
Can you even see what you’re doing
By throwing us out like this?
You’re throwing out the only ones
Who cared enough to deal
With your unfairness and ruling, as
You kicked us when we were down.

Remember, we were walking,
At summer camp, up to our site,
When you said to me
“Out of our group, Taryn,
You’re my best friend. We’ll never split”
Look at us now as you remember
The memories we’ve all made.
Because that’s all they’ll ever be now.
Just Memories, and nothing more
