Waiting

I sit alone
Outside the band room
Books scattered about
Milkweed.
Paper Towns.
Matched.
I’ve read too much for a day.
Soon my eyes tire
As I long for something
What is it?

A feeling of impatience hits
As I look around
I’m watching the clock
Waiting
Until I am no longer alone.
Until I hear the dull roar
Of those around me
Instead of this eerie silence.
Being alone, all by myself
Up in this quiet band hall.

Still there’s something about it
That’s not all too bad.
I have freedom to do what I please
So here I am waiting
For all of you there,
But no, I don’t mind
That I’m up here alone
Up in the silent band hall.
Listening. Waiting
