Homecoming

The sun bursts into a million sparks,
Long, short, yellow, orange,
Bathing everything in a honey hue,
Drowning the city in a sea of golden happiness;
The smog bleeds into the sky at the horizon,
Like the sea ebbs and flows at the shore,
Painting a subtle rainbow with its pastel colours;
The hills pierce the clouds,
Silver rivers braid through the forests,
Like green cornrows;
So I leave my blues to be merged into the daylight,
And let my spirit bounce around on the clouds;
I’m happy,
I’m free,
I’m home.
