Kaleidoscope

A yellow flicker lost in a sea of blackness,
An orange tinge fading into midnight;
Inside and out, the voices crescendo,
Piercing my heart through and through,
Smashing it to a billion smithereens,
Like a chandelier at the opera.
I paint over pain with grace,
Hidden and shoved,
But like blood, hurt stains;
Ballet over pins and needles,
Leaves soles scarred,
And flesh scared.
I catch teardrops as a past time,
Raising them against golden rays,
Praying for a rainbow to fall on my eyes;
I twirl in a bed of milky glass,
Every colour floating around my body,
Pastels covering me head to toe,
No two shapes are ever the same,
Every pattern sparks a new emotion,
Snatching a piece of my heart,
Lost so quickly;
Lost so far;
Lost forever.
