Rape Culture

A warning, this is about rape. No, i have not been raped, but i am trying to be representitive and understanding of those who have.

I once had a flower.
It was pretty, bright and pink.
And when it bloomed so brightly,
My femininity would seep.
But then one day a gardener
with pruner in his hand,
Attacked my pretty flower
because he was a man.
And because he was a man,
he thought he had the power
He thought he had every right
to hurt my pretty flower.
Now my petals wilted,
when men sow I shy away,
They will not hurt me this I know
but he haunts me to this day.
I once had a pretty flower,
but now it is a weed.
Because someone thought their right
to try to plant his seed.
Crumpled is my flower.
Once pretty, pink and pure,
Defiled because “ it was his right"
This is rape culture.
