I don’t like flashbacks
Because often times they are the bad kind
You know, the ones where your heart got ripped out of your chest
Or the ones that replay in your head over and over again
The ones you want to go back and change
The ones you wish you could change
And even when the flashbacks are good,
You unexpectedly remind yourself that life will never be that sweet again
So you cry inside
Wishing you could move on but the flashbacks won’t let you
Raping your mind
Violating your soul
And confusing your reality
Push back your future
And reverse your present
And finally you realize the purpose
To be thankful that you are no more who you were
To be happy times did change
To love the fact that you did have those happy moments
But being sad it took you so long to realize
So, no, I don’t like flashbacks
