Hope in Pandora’s Jar

Discombobulated
Disoriented
Disconnected
Distracted
Distressed
Distant
Depressed
Sat In the corner
Head down
Arms around knees
Naked
All eyes all ears at all times
All universe is watching
The confused children of Eve
In galaxy Milky Way
On planet Earth

Quarantined hope remains ever
Inside Pandora’s Jar ever alive as well

At a wits end at a loose end
Bored to death sickened
Puzzled once more at a loss
Gorged yet not satiated
Scared hoarded all and everything
From the big box stores
To inside a small box souls transfixed
To a shadow from a naked bulb
To mirror images a horizon of anxiety
Dawn to sundown
Stood still the world over
Forests friends and predators wondered
Roamed the asphalt jungles concrete steel and glass world
Drop pin ghost towns grid unprotected exposed under the sun
Eerie wisps of underworld inferno steam hover slowly the long shadows
The black feral cats goosebump alleys of empty tall buildings

Life suspended untethered
Not a safety net
A flying trapeze artist worst nightmare
Looking down blank eyed in vertigo
Sweat chills unsure beside himself
Never had in his lifetime this feeling
His world seemed lost at a crossroads
A faith call sign  self crossing made always unthinking
Not this time mindful this time

Red horned mascot Satan
on shiny black hearse hood grinning
Hearse after hearse after hearse
A funeral rehearsal-like yet not
Death watching death passing by death
A macabre line dance of the zombies a horrific fearsome scene stoked by tiny happy
Nocturnal cave dwellers upside down mocking clicking calls

While the rest of the world sat waiting weary hoping
For Satan to disappear luxuriate in fire...hoping
A miracle self immolation happen vaporize him to a burp to thin air
Be gone from a long plateau of angst nightmare
Be gone the halloween horror of scythe wielding grim reapers
High jumping Hades dance of death while the world is suffocating

All eyes all ears at all times
All universe is watching
The confused children of Eve
In galaxy Milky Way
On planet Earth

Quarantined hope remains ever
Inside Pandora’s Jar ever alive as well

Thanks Robert.
I was editing it at the same time you were reading it.
Glad you liked.
I got to shake this virus out of my system and move on.
It’s driving me nuts, nuttier I guess as I’ve been already
for a long long time. Ha!

Enjoy your Memorial Day. weekend.

Wow. A whole lot said in a whole lot of words, but the right ones. I loved the humour and the play in words
