The Word

Luke 8:11
Psalm 119:105
Jeremiah 23:29
Matthew 4:4

The little seed’s imbedded in our hearts
When first we hear the divine Word of God
Fast, it will grow as soon as sin departs
And bloom abundantly in fertile sod!
On dark nights, the Word’s a lamp to our feet
The bright light that illuminates our path
We won’t get lost, perdition never meet
We’ll see our Savior in the aftermath
The Word’s an all-consuming fire within
Encouraging us to share His passion
So the work of salvation could begin
For many hearts need gentle persuasion!
Sadly, some souls need more drastic measures
But the written Word much like a hammer
That will smash a stone along its fissures
Polishing each piece to shine forever
And finally, the Word’s our sustenance
Our spiritual food, the bread from heaven
Written, spoken to provide us guidance
No greater gift, to man has been given!
The living Word, the pow’r of God’s mercy
Liberates us from the clutches of sin
His sacred sacrifice at Calvary
Assures us the devil shall never win.
