I DROWN MY SORROW….

Down by the end of the road, stands a bar
It’s probably five blocks away - not very far
I love this place, though not posh, it’s my paradise
It’s not a big place but the people here are nice.

All sorts of people are here, foolish, wise or smart
And they come here to drink, drink to their heart.
I’m drowning my sorrows, in this rum and some coke,
Cause for me, this life has been, but a bitter joke.

Excuse me! Could you give me another round?
The music’s too loud, “Please turn down the sound”
I need to drink some more, my drinks finished
Soft music and some rum - I’ve always relished.

I’d always craved and cared, but never told her so,
I just couldn’t hold onto her, and had to let her go
So I drink and drink, to drown away my sorrow
and forget the sorrow till tomorrow.

They say am alcoholic, but I am not
I too was like you once - that you forgot
The pain of losing her drives me mad at all time
So please understand, drinking is no crime.

It’s twilight now and I’ve been here from noon
Guess I’ll wait for my friends who’ll be here very soon
We’ll get together, drink, dance, and sing till late
And this is how everyday, all things I try to forget.

Keep the drinks flowing, I ain’t drunk as yet
It’s twilight now, and too early for bed.
Hic!!......Guess I’m drunk now, I need to hit the sack
The story has just begun, be here tomorrow, I’ll be back.
