MIDDLE-AGE CRISIS

All alone, and into the wee hours of the morning
With the laptop on my desk, I am calculating
My hard earned money and my reward.
Is there no more and I find it hard.

How could I’ve saved from what I had earned?
That, early on life I should have learned,
What you earn is not for you alone
It’s for your families when you are long gone.

I haven’t saved anything for my kids and my wife
Sometimes I just wonder how they would live their life.
Thoughts like these hurt me deep
It might haunt me for long as I live.

Wild and Free was I when, young and strong
Days filled with women, wine and song
Mostly with friends, and hardly at school.
Drinking and playing, snookers and pool.

Friends were galore when I had money
Now that I am poor, I don’t have any.
I have blown up all the money I had
Things were good then, but now it’s bad.

I am old and my hair’s turned gray
But I am all prepared for what come may
So, to all the young folks, this I say?
Whenever there’s a sun, make and save some hay.

Do not make the mistakes that I’ve made
Always prepare and save, for the days ahead.
Save what you must, for your family to start
Start living their life, once you depart.
