And Yet Once Again

And Yet Once Again

 ~~ Rob ~~

i run, i try to hide,
you are to deep inside.
You paint me your own shade,
A coloring I cannot evade.

With deft strokes of your brush, a subtle flick of your wrist,
My self-portrait became yours, done with such a simple twist,
You molded me till there was nothing left to do,
You managed to make me into the quintessential you

You sculpted my heart, what you did still stings,
You wrote a song, but one that my heart cannot sing.
You tried to make me your melody to play
But all your artistry, cannot make me stay

Can I  try and live broken like this,
Life’s  purpose lost, what will I miss.
Can I make my heart want to reach,
Maybe I can, if you will but teach.

How many times will I walk in the fire,
Driven by wants and human desire.
I seem to be unwilling to learn,
If only the page I was willing to turn.

My heart I can teach to sing a new song,
Maybe you would be willing to sing along.
I try in life, despite my mistakes,
So, my heart is here, for you to break.

For life with no love, what a sad affair,
Love is what drives us, keeps us from despair.
What is worth while, with nothing at stake,
So risk your heart, though it might break.

For when I find true love, what joy it will bring,
My knees may grow weak, but my heart it will sing.
Though she is with me, I must still must compete,
But with her at my side, my life feels complete.
