The Parasol

She stood there, a perfect delight
Protected by light from her parasol
She stood so still, as her life at stake
No movement did she dare to make
Did I see a furtive glance!
Was it on purpose, or by chance?
I feigned indifference to the glance
A huff, she made, the parasol snapped shut
She whirled, and away she did strutt
Walking away from the lamps dim light
A twinkle flickered in my eyes this night
A smile, it crossed my grinning face
I pocketed her kerchief, made of fine lace
I never even got to say good night.
As that parasol disappeared from sight
